Eastern Connecticut State University is seeking a qualified candidate to fill the Fulltime Tenure Track Assistant Professor of Nursing position. Eastern is Connecticut’s Public Liberal Arts University and is located in Willimantic, Connecticut which is 1.5 hours from Boston and 2.5 hours from New York City. Eastern is one of four universities in the Connecticut State College and University System (CSCU). The position also offers substantial health and retirement benefits.
The Health Sciences and Nursing department is seeking a dynamic student-centered nursing professional who believes in the Eastern Connecticut State University mission to educate and cultivate accountable, ethical, and diverse future health professionals through outstanding experiential liberal arts education, service, research, and scholarly activities to address the evolving societal health needs in the community. The ideal candidate will encourage and support students to pursue innovative ways to advance nursing practice and contribute to the creation of a center of excellence for baccalaureate-prepared nurses through a supportive and collaborative learning environment. This teaching opportunity focuses on Maternal and Child health nursing, Pediatric and Community nursing, Leadership in nursing, Clinical Judgement for Complex illness, and the Integrated Clinical Nursing Capstone course, Additional areas of nursing education within the program are Nursing Fundamentals and Health Assessment, Adult Medical Surgical Nursing, and Geriatric Nursing with clinical practice. The Eastern Nursing program believes that experienced nursing faculty are essential to providing caring guidance, support and mentorship for our students during their nursing education journey. The Eastern Health Sciences and Nursing Department faculty serve the department through curriculum development, nursing and health science research, program and student evaluation, academic advising, participation in professional service activities, and clinical/laboratory teaching including simulation.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- All applicants must possess a current nursing licensure in the State of CT by the date of hire.
- All applicants must have an advanced degree in Nursing (DNP, or Ph.D.). A doctorate in a related field is acceptable if an applicant has an MSN.
- Seven years of clinical practice experience in the relevant clinical area.
- Previous teaching experience in an institution of higher education.
- Excellent communication, teamwork and collaboration skills.
- Demonstrated ability to contribute through scholarship, teaching, and/or public engagement to the diversity and excellence of the learning experience.
- Completion of required health indicators (MMR titers, TB status, Hepatitis B, and others as required by clinical agencies) and CPR at the time of employment.
- Experience with integrating technology into instruction and/or conducting online instruction.
- Doctorate in Nursing. (DNP or Ph.D.).
- Record of scholarly productivity.
- Certified Nurse Educator or postgraduate health professions teaching certificate.
- A proven record of excellence in teaching.
- A deep commitment to promoting diversity through academic and research programs.
- Programmatic management and planning experience preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to contribute through research, teaching, and/or public engagement to the diversity and excellence of the learning experience.

COMPENSATION AND EMPLOYEE BENEFITS:
The fulltime Tenure Track Assistant Professor of Nursing is compensated at the Assistant Professor rank salary level in accordance with Connecticut State University American Association of University Professors (CSU-AAUP) Collective Bargaining Unit Agreement.
