Eastern Connecticut State University is seeking a qualified candidate to fill the Director of Athletics position. Eastern is Connecticut’s Public Liberal Arts University and is located in Willimantic, Connecticut which is 1.5 hours from Boston and 2.5 hours from New York City. Eastern is one of four universities in the Connecticut State College and University System (CSCU). The position also offers substantial health and retirement benefits.

POSITION SUMMARY
Responsible for the overall supervision and administration of all intercollegiate athletic, intramural, club, and recreational programs.

Vice President of Student Affairs
SUPERVlSION EXERCISED
Supervises coaches, athletic trainers, administrative faculty, support staff and volunteers.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES
Administers all facets of the university athletic program including budget management, management of facilities, planning and staffing, staff supervision, fundraising, and public relations.
Administers the intercollegiate athletic program in accordance with NCAA, conference, and university policies, promoting good sportsmanship and focusing on the health and well-being of student athletes.
Responsible for the supervision and evaluation of intercollegiate athletic staff, including coaches, athletic trainers, administrators, support staff, and volunteers.
Responsible for ensuring that all coaches and staff are in compliance with regulations and guidelines governing intercollegiate athletic programs including Title IX.
Plans, develops, and recommends to university administration, specific programs and methods to implement the general athletic philosophy and policies of the university.
Oversees the scheduling and maintenance of facilities utilized for intercollegiate athletics, intramural sports, and recreational programs to include athletic training and the equipment room.
Oversees the sports information program and promotes all athletic events.
Works with coaches, faculty, and staff to ensure the academic and athletic success of student athletes, with particular emphasis on community engagement and citizenship.
Performs other duties and responsibilities related to those above which do not alter the basic level of responsibility of the position.
KNOWLEDGE. SKILLS. AND ABILITIES
Demonstrated knowledge and ability of applying best practices in intercollegiate athletics. Knowledge of and ability to apply federal and state laws, NCAA and conference regulations as well as university and BOR/CSCU policies and procedures. Successful experience in managing a complex budget and fundraising in support of intercollegiate athletics. A record of promoting academic excellence among student athletes and working effectively with diverse groups and individuals. Exemplary communications skills and demonstrated experience in developing collaborative relationships among constituencies such as students, faculty, staff, alumni, fans, donors, and members of the local community.
QALIFICATIONS
Master's degree from an accredited institution of higher education. Seven (7) years of professional experience in an administrative position in an intercollegiate athletic program, including at least three (3) years of supervisory responsibilities. Credentials and/or experience comparable to the above may also be considered.
