Eastern Connecticut State University is seeking a qualified candidate to fill the Women’s Varsity Head Flag Football Coach position. Eastern is Connecticut’s Public Liberal Arts University and is located in Willimantic, Connecticut which is 1.5 hours from Boston and 2.5 hours from New York City.  Eastern is one of four universities in the Connecticut State College and University System (CSCU). The position also offers substantial health and retirement benefits.

Eastern Connecticut State University is accepting applications for the full-time position of Women’s Varsity Head Flag Football Coach. Eastern Connecticut State University is planning to establish women’s Varsity Flag Football sport in 2026-27. Upon hire, the head coach will be responsible for recruiting athletes for the upcoming season and establishing a schedule for the new women’s team. Candidates should have a proven ability to recruit at the collegiate level, with a strong commitment to the student-athlete experience. A secondary responsibility within the Department of Athletics will be assigned.

Ongoing duties will include but are not limited to recruiting and retention of student-athletes, practice and game preparation and coaching, supervision of part-time assistant coaches, and fundraising to provide for team opportunities. In addition, the Head Coach is responsible for administrative tasks such as scheduling contests, budget management, and filing necessary reports. The Head Coach must demonstrate a commitment to maintaining compliance with NCAA and Eastern Connecticut State University rules and regulations.

Our preferred candidate will have the proven leadership skills to create a championship culture. The successful candidate will show the strong communication skills and cross-cultural abilities necessary to develop and maintain positive relationships with student-athletes, colleagues, alumni, and the greater campus community. 

Minimum Qualifications
*Bachelor’s degree required
*Successful coaching experience

Preferred Qualifications
*Knowledge and support of DIII rules, regulations, and philosophy
*Proven ability to recruit student-athletes
*Previous collegiate coaching experience

Compensation and Employee Benefits
The Women’s Varsity Head Flag Football Coach is compensated at the Coach II salary level in accordance with Connecticut State University American Association of University Professors (CSU-AAUP) Collective Bargaining Unit Agreement.
